ChamberRVA, the chamber of commerce representing the entire greater Richmond region since 1867, awarded its annual Icons Awards to eight individuals and companies last night. Winners included Workpath’s Baylee Mabe, our Head of Product, in the Business Innovator award category.
The Icons Awards are presented by HYPE, ChamberRVA's program for young professionals. Since 2015, HYPE has presented the Icons Awards to career-bold young professionals and the companies that support them. Kroger presented the event, which was held at the Science Museum of Virginia and hosted nearly 450 attendees from the Richmond region's young professional community. This year’s award selection committee, consisting of Richmond executives, had to narrow down the finalists in each category out of a record breaking number of nominations.
Baylee, and the other Icons Awards recipients, were selected for standing out as front-runners and innovators in their workplaces throughout the region. Candidates are age 35 or younger and have made clear and direct impact on their companies, workplaces and/or co-workers. ChamberRVA recognized Baylee’s contributions in Workpath’s fast paced, startup environment. Baylee received the award for her ability to inspire others to break new ground, innovate, and to always look for new and innovative ways to improve healthcare for everyone.
Baylee, who is both a healthcare leader and innovative technologist, has a master's in health administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. While Baylee’s Masters in Health Administration classmates opted to perform their residencies in traditional hospital leadership settings, Baylee turned to the technology industry. She knew that if she could combine new and innovative technology with an understanding of the way healthcare facilities do business she would be able to truly help healthcare organizations improve their workflow, operations, and patient experiences.
Thanks to Baylee’s contributions and leadership, Workpath’s technology is now used by some of the largest health systems, labs, staffing agencies, and healthcare organizations in the world. As Workpath continues to grow, Baylee manages the organization’s IT roadmap and the evolving platform. She is in charge of sprint planning, release management, testing, custom development contracts, management of contractors, overall UI/UX design, and she assists the marketing and sales teams with their initiatives. She works on all fronts of the organization to ensure the Workpath product is in alignment with the short-term and long-term strategy of the company. And on top of it all, Baylee works directly with Workpath’s customers to ensure their complete satisfaction with the evolving product.
When Baylee is not working with some of the largest healthcare organizations in the industry, she spends her free time studying product management. She is a member of an online Product Community where product managers across the country come together to share helpful articles and events, ask questions, and network. She makes it a priority to constantly improve and refine her project management and technology skills around every corner.
We couldn’t think of a better person to receive the Business Innovator Award than Baylee and are proud she’s part of the Workpath family.
